Every tour to Whitehaven Beach is outdoors and on the water, so the weather shapes your whole day. Rain hides the Hill Inlet view, and wind makes the crossing rougher. Match the month to the Whitehaven Beach boat tour you want before you book.
Boat days usually run in rain and wind. The crew may change the route or the end of the beach, but you still go. The flights are different: they can be cancelled for weather, so book one early in your stay and leave room to rebook.
What rain costs you is the view. The white sand and the blue channels at Hill Inlet need sun to show their colour, and a grey day flattens them. Wind costs you comfort on the crossing, and Iconic's outer-reef stop depends on the conditions.

Winter and spring are the easy answer. From June to October the rain almost stops, clear days run to 11 to 14 a month, and highs sit between 21 and 27 °C. September is the driest and clearest month of all.
Summer is hot and wet. January brings 297.6 mm of rain, and February has only four or five clear days. The boats still run, but the view is a gamble. The year totals 1,480.8 mm, and more than half of it falls from January to March.
The stingers do not follow the seasons. The park says they can be in the sea in every month, so you wear a stinger suit to swim, whatever the weather. See the best time to visit for whales and the tide.
On a boat day, the tide sets the timetable, not the clock. Boats reach Tongue Bay for Hill Inlet from mid to high tide, so your crew picks the order of the day. The half-day catamaran is the one tour with a choice: a morning or an afternoon departure.
For heat, the middle of the day is the time to be in the water, in your stinger suit. The walk to the lookout is uphill, and it is easier early in the day.
